Closure Notice
To our beloved bread community:
After nearly 22 years, the time has come: Hungry Ghost Bread is changing hands.
We are thrilled to announce that Sam Coates-Finke and Ana Maria Valle Bendezú are buying the business! Sam grew up in Northampton and his parents and grandfather still live here. Ana is from Peru, and is a master baker who has worked in Lima, Barcelona, and Copenhagen.
Saturday December 20th will be the last day for the current HGB team, including Cheryl and Jonathan. The bakery will be closed for a few months for renovations and will re-open sometime in March. It has been an honor to help feed this community and to be a conduit for the stellar work of farmers and millers. We will miss the daily contact with friends and customers, but it’s time to move on to other projects: art work, travel, grandkids.
We know that Ana and Sam will continue the story of close community and great bread and that you’ll get used to seeing the rest of us without our aprons on.
